Important information

Sustainability A digital brochure? Yes. We are saving ink and paper. It is part of our commitment towards a better, more sustainable future. Data protection The University of Manchester obtains and uses large amounts of personal information about our students, alumni, staff, contractors, research participants and other individuals that come into contact with us. This information is defined as personal data in the General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018 and is often also referred to at the University as Personal Information. Any action carried out which relates to personal information is known as processing. The University is the Data Controller for the personal information it processes and we process this information for a variety of reasons in order to carry out our academic, employer, charitable and other administrative functions. We aim to be as transparent as possible about the ways we use personal information; to only collect and retain the minimum amount of data possible and to keep it securely. Disclaimer We have made every effort to make this brochure as accurate as possible at the time of publishing (June 2023). Wherever possible, we use images of our campuses and students. Occasionally we use stock images for illustrative purposes.

Accessibility This website has been built using third party software called Foleon that is WCAG 2.1 certified meaning it is compliant with the latest Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. These guidelines are taken into consideration with every new feature launched by Foleon. In this respect, Foleon ensures high standards of accessibility for users with certain types of disabilities that would otherwise prevent them from having a good user experience. Some of the main accessibility issues covered technically by Foleon include smooth access from different screens and devices, colour accessibility for visually impaired users or headings indicating the hierarchy of texts. The University of Manchester is doing its best to ensure content compliance regarding accessibility in Foleon. This includes, where relevant, the addition of descriptive alt texts for images and graphics or the integration of video subtitles. It also includes accuracy in PDF file tagging, unlocking of security settings, image labelling and language designation which specifies the main language used in the document. The University of Manchester is committed to observing digital accessibility standards when using third party tools. Digital accessibility is considered in all the university practices to achieve these goals and our staff makes sure digital accessibility is implemented responsibly. Nevertheless, if you notice any deficiencies regarding the accessibility of the site, you can provide feedback to: fsemarketing@manchester.ac.uk
