By managing risks and optimising operations, NeuWave is positioned to make a substantial impact on the country’s the path to net-zero.

Jana Stella
NeuWave Technologies is set to revolutionise offshore renewable energy with predictive wave analytics, enabling smarter, safer decisions. Co-founded by Jana Stella, Chris Wright, and Lucas Martin, the company aims to make wave forecasting more accessible and actionable for the industry. Jana's journey began with her PhD research in environmental engineering at the University of Manchester, where she explored AI-driven models to assess wave energy impacts on wind turbines. The challenges she faced led her to develop an AI solution that makes predictions 200 times faster with reduced computational power. After participating in the eight-month Turning Innovation Catalyst's Conception X accelerator programme - designed specifically to help PhD researchers transform their research into startups - and winning the Innovation Award through the University of Manchester's Researcher to Innovator (R2I) programme, Jana gained crucial insights into product-market fit and the value of industry collaboration. These experiences enabled her to refine her business idea and align it with market needs. NeuWave's vision is clear: to provide a comprehensive dashboard for offshore renewables, helping companies manage risks and optimising operations by visualising historical data and forecasting future conditions. Since its founding, NeuWave has secured funding, expanded the team, and garnered interest from 15 companies. Currently developing its minimum viable product, NeuWave is targeting the support vessel market, focusing on efficient offshore wind farm construction and cable-laying. With its innovative approach, NeuWave is poised to make a significant impact on the renewables sector and contribute to a net-zero future.
