PRAJAKTA'S STORY
Prajakta, graduate of 2023, explains why she chose to study an MSc in Pollution and Environmental Control, and how it's empowered her to make a difference in her home country of India.
"I graduated in September 2022, and in November 2022 I started at CGG (later Viridien) as a Graduate Geoscientist. As part of my graduate rotation programme, I worked in the sample labs, worked in Data Hub on a field scale data extraction project, and experienced each of the geology disciplines at the company.
I was promoted to Geoscientist in May 2023, and my role predominantly was as a clastic sedimentologist. I work with a lot of core and cuttings samples and geological data, and spent 2 months in country logging over 2km core (a career highlight!).
In February 2025, Viridien Geology changed hands to Petrostrat. I work mainly in the oil and gas industry, providing geological interpretation for projects ranging from single-well studies up to basin-scale multi-well, multi-disciplinary integrated studies.
My role now involves some project management of small to medium size projects, as well as technical work as a sedimentologist, and some work with data management.
My master's degree gave me the tools I needed for this role, an understanding of key topics, software, and geological background which gave me a great backing to start learning on-the-job in industry."
