Here at the birthplace of Management of Projects education, we continue to push the boundaries of the discipline through four different MSc programmes related to Management of Projects while spotlighting sustainability, zero carbon, organisational behaviour and management ethics in the project education domain.
Our department has an especially pioneering history in the delivery of project management master’s courses.
Beyond the substantial groundwork which our mandatory units provide, you also have the freedom to further focus on areas of your interest on our courses - from sustainability and risk management to project finance and conflict and negotiation. We are proud of delivering research-informed teaching in inclusive settings with a diverse range of assessments.
The staff you will work with throughout your study not only draw from a wide variety of industrial experience and backgrounds but are continually recognised for their contribution to the field.
Our academics regularly engage with institutional bodies such as APM. Additionally, our programme director won the APM award for the 2023 Project Management Educator of the Year.

OUR RESEARCH AREAS AND THEMES

As the first English university to offer an engineering degree, we have pioneered the way since 1824, spending decades at the forefront of the Management of Projects field on a global scale.
We are based in the discipline of engineering management, which has the five following research themes:
- Principles and practices of engineering management and project studies
- Sustainability and circularity in built environment
- Workplace health, safety, and wellbeing
- Pedagogical practices in project studies
- Digital transformation and integration in engineering management
For your dissertation studies, you will benefit from the opportunity to investigate a wide range of topics related to your course.
Additionally, since research themes align with your academics' interests, you will be supervised by academics who are experts in the field.
